Keeping up with the management, preservation and development of the Mariposa Museum and History Center is an ongoing task. Our volunteers make it all happen and we need more people interested in helping out. No particular qualifications or time commitments are required aside from a wish to contribute. One could volunteer as a docent inside or as a tour guide, leader or assistant, for outside tours and activities: such as running the stamp mill; demonstrating blacksmithing; making brooms on our antique broom making equipment; leading or assisting in gold panning demonstration; and touring through the “Counts Residence” and the original “Mariposa Gazette Newspaper Office”. We will give you all the knowledge you need to participate as a guide or a docent in this wonderful experience and help to further the knowledge of our past.
We also need people with mechanical, carpentry, maintenance or electrical skills to help in reconstruction and repair and maintenance of displays on museum grounds. Gardeners and “grounds” maintenance people are needed too.
Contact museum via phone or e-mail or come in in person and talk to a staff member.
