Mariposa Museum and History Center Motto Contest
The Mariposa Museum and History Center’s Board of Directors would like to announce a contest to find a NEW MUSEUM MOTTO! As we are a community minded organization, we believe that the community should have a part in deciding what that new motto should be.
In formulating a phrase that best describes us, we ask that you consider the following:
The mission of our institution is to discover, protect, collect, and exhibit material objects that best illustrate the culture and history of Mariposa County. Our goals are to facilitate our mission through the development and growth of our collection with the purpose of interpreting and educating the public about Mariposa’s place in history.
We believe that our archival records are among the richest in the State of California. As the volume of our collection continues to grow, so does our responsibility to preserve it for future generations. We have been called “The best little museum of its size West of the Mississippi!”
The parameters of the competition are as follows:
1) The motto must be in the form of a phrase of no more than 10 words
2) It should summarize the general motivation or intention of our organization.
3) It must be in good taste.
4) It may be motivational, philosophical, humorous, or thought provoking.
5) Submissions must be from Mariposa County residents or Museum Members.
The contest will start on January 1st, 2017. The winner will be announced on Saturday, May 6th, the day of our annual open house. The winner will receive a $100 gift certificate for a shopping spree in our gift shop and a framed historical photograph.
Submissions may be submitted via postal service, email, or may be personally delivered to the Museum at the address below. Please be sure to include your name and phone number.
